I watched the movie The Wedding Crashers again recently. There's a scene where someone gets sick after ingesting eye drops. I thought that was a weird plot device but then forgot about it.
Then, today, I read in a novel about the same thing. I thought that was just weird enough to look it up.
Turns out it's true of the type of eye drops that remove red eye. Those drop have tetrahydrozoline in then which can kill us in fairly small amounts.
I'm amazed that those eye drops aren't plastered in warning labels. Not that I think we need warning labels, but that's usually how these things go, right?
